NETAR becomes more than an
Association for REALTORS® as
four new timber wolf pups, including a female named Netar, settle into the
Puppy Palace at Bays Mountain Park in Kingsport.
They were
brought in thanks to the help and donations of Lolita Shipley and Coldwell
Banker Marketplace of Downtown Kingsport, Jewell McKinney and Town & Country
Realty of Downtown Kingsport and private citizens.
The four
pups were born on April 28, 2007 in Bear Country U.S.A. in Rapid City, South
Dakota. They arrived at Bays Mountain Park on May 26 after Park Naturalist
Rhonda Goins took a weeklong drive up to get them. Rhonda and her mother,
REALTOR® Lolita Shipley, named Netar and came up with the meaning New Home
Place.
Netar
has one sister, Aiyana, and two brothers, Adahy and Tenasi. They are under
24-hour supervision by volunteers in order to socialize them to humans and
to the existing pack. After three months they
will be introduced to the six adult wolves in the wolf habitat where they
should feel like family.
The live WolfCam will soon be moved from the wolf habitat to the Puppy Palace. This
will allow people to view the puppies on the Internet at any time during the
day or night. The puppies are also available for public viewing
Monday-Sunday.
